I am a junior at UAA studying mechanical engineering. Math is the bread and butter of my degree plan. I have strong algebra and problem solving skills because of this degree. My experience includes physics, statistics, and calculus. I enjoy seeing people understand and excel in these classes. I believe anyone can be good at topics such as math and science with the right amount of practice.
I’m a certified teacher and I’m super excited to join Homework Helper AK! I started substitute teaching in the spring of 2011 and have taught second grade the last two years in Wasilla. Math and PE were my two favorite subjects in school and I’ve always been an avid reader. In addition to teaching in schools, I’ve also been a swim instructor and dance teacher. We moved to Wasilla in 2018 to join my family up here, and my husband and I absolutely love Alaska! We love the outdoors, have a cat and a dog, and will be welcoming our first baby this fall!
I attended South Anchorage High School for freshman and sophomore years before continuing at New Hampton Prep School for hockey, which I graduated from in 2017. I have experience in IB classes in math, biology, and history. My specialties include all high school levels of math up to AP and IB Calculus. I played junior hockey in the NAHL, and volunteered 6 hours a week at local elementary schools. I am currently attending the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota to major in Mechanical Engineering, and continuing my hockey career. I am excited to help others succeed and learn!
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders, and a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. I have volunteered at all levels of public schooling, and am a former ASD substitute. Currently I work as a Speech Language Pathologist at a private pediatric practice. I am also a fellow through the LEND Without Walls program through UAA. My specialties include elementary math, reading, literacy, phonological awareness, and client management.
